The auction process: from delivery to knockdown
The evening starts at 17:00 with the delivery of the animals, which are neatly dressed up for their appearance.
At 19:00, the intensive inspection begins: farmers and livestock dealers from all over Switzerland who are interested in buying the animals examine them closely. All relevant details about the cow are recorded in a detailed handbook. The main breeds traded are Red Holstein cows and Simmental Simmental cattle, which are typical of the Emmental region.
Did you know? In Switzerland, buyers have the right to return a cow for up to nine days after purchase!
Culinary delights: your evening program
